                                                          Our Mission

The mission of the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board library, a dynamic, active, interdisciplinary environment, is to challenge life-long learners to be effective users of ideas and information, by ensuring relevant, significant, technological and text based collections that stimulate independent study and encourage personal development.

The health of school libraries should be of keen interest not only to teachers, librarians and school boards officials, but to students and their parents. Research shows that school library funding and the presence of qualified librarians have positive impacts on outcomes.”” Statistics Canada 2008

The library at Redcliff is a busy place. Many students visit the library during recess and lunch time as well as their regularly scheduled library periods. The library is open to students and staff all day Tuesday and Friday, including before classes in the morning, at recess, lunchtime and after school. Ms Canning, welcomes all students and staff and would like to remind them that the library should be a place where everyone in the school can experience the pleasure of reading.

Library books are signed out for two weeks, while magazines are borrowed for one week. Renewals are possible unless the book has been requested by someone else. A fine of ten cents per day will be charged for overdue material.

Redcliff Middle School Library is fully automated with an electronic catalogue which students and staff are able to search for material using a program called Horizon. This program is now web-based and allows you to search by author, title, and subject from anywhere you have Internet access.

Volunteers are needed. If you are able to help, please call Ms. Canning at 896-5520.
